Moodle as a learning management system

Abstract

LMS, for its acronym in English refers to Learning Management System and translated into Spanish refers to a learning management system, which is currently used to administer intelligent courses since among its various functions are, to manage complex data, they are of easy monitoring, they generate reports, they are flexible, modern, functional, easily accessible, they promote consistent learning, they are for all audiences, they allow the visualization of student progress and the use of interactive materials.

There are two main types of LMS: Free software and commercial. The former are usually claroline, dotLRN, dokeos and Moodle. The commercials are Atutor, Blackboard, WebCT and QSMedia, among others.

Moodle allows online training through a philosophy based on social constructivism, develops an efficient and orderly system in one place, has an easy authentication system for students. It allows the use of various resources such as: courses, categories, activities, materials, online elections, communication, statistics, events, user profile, user accounts and roles.

The activities that can be implemented with Moodle are chats, workshops, forums, evaluation, tasks, surveys and videoconferences
