The Ecological Model of Bronfenbrenner-Morris associated with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is one of the most prevalent diseases in the elderly population, which has repercussions at a biological, psychological and social level. The purpose of this article is to explain the disease of diabetes based on the main elements of the Bronfenbrenner-Morris Ecological Model in terms of the four subsystems that are: Microsystem, Mesosystem, Exosystem and Macrosystem. It is important to highlight that the information presented can be used as teaching material to strengthen the vision associated with the modification and reduction of unhealthy behaviors carried out by people who suffer from type 2 diabetes mellitus.
