Atención de enfermería en la paciente que cursa con diabetes gestacional
Abstract
Gestational diabetes is defined as carbohydrate intolerance with varying degrees of severity that is recognized for the first time during pregnancy, and may or may not be resolved after this. [1]
Pregnancy is characterized by increased insulin resistance and changes in intermediary metabolism, this increased resistance is more noticeable in the third trimester of pregnancy. In gestational diabetes there is an increased risk of macrosomia, polyhydramnios, prematurity, preeclampsia-eclampsia, obstetrical trauma, caesarean section and perinatal mortality. [2]
The patient requires care and specific nursing attention during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, monitoring and control is performed on the first level of care and coordination on the second level with the OB-GYN, the nurse performs different interventions to educate the patient and family in self-care (control of blood sugar, diet, exercise and drugs); so it is very important to count with this guide as tool care in the community and in hospitals, for detection and control.
