ICT as resources for medical education in the UAEH in times of COVID 19, a dual perspective
Abstract
Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global population modified their educational environments in order to respect the recommended social distancing. Medical education has not been the exception, migrating to virtual learning environments, through the use of several platforms and tools that have allowed distance interaction between teachers and students, giving continuity to education. Health emergency has led to the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to continue the process; however, the community was not prepared enough to face such a situation. To better understand the conditions in which these activities have been carried out, a survey was created and applied to the academic and student population of the UAEH Medical Surgeon Degree, in order to identify the use of ICT before and during the COVID-19 contingency, from a dual perspective of students and teachers. A migration to 100% virtual scenarios was realized, through a radical change towards the adoption of technologies such as communication applications, virtual classroom platforms and for the application of exams, by students and teachers, during the contingency.
