Relación entre dificultades en la regulación emocional y funciones ejecutivas en jóvenes mexicanos

Resumen

La regulación emocional (RE) y las funciones ejecutivas (FE) son indispensables para el desarrollo cognitivo y social de los jóvenes, sin embargo, déficits en estos procesos pueden generar problemas de salud mental y dificultades académicas o profesionales. Con el objetivo de describir la relación entre las dificultades en la RE y las FE en jóvenes mexicanos, se realizó un estudio correlacional con una muestra de 46 jóvenes de entre 18 y 29 años, excluyendo a aquellos con algún trastorno psiquiátrico o neurológico. Se aplicó la batería BANFE-3 para evaluar las FE y la escala DERS-E para evaluar las dificultades en la RE. Aunque no se encontró una correlación significativa entre las FE y las dificultades en la RE de forma global, sí se hallaron correlaciones entre 5 subpruebas de las FE y 3 factores de la RE, sugiriendo una relación parcial entre ciertos aspectos de ambas variables en jóvenes mexicanos. Estos hallazgos evidencian la compleja interacción entre la RE y las FE y resaltan la importancia de considerar la RE como un factor clave en el funcionamiento ejecutivo en jóvenes.
