Resumen

El trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad (TDAH) es una condición que se ha reportado con frecuencia en niños, aunque también está presente en adultos. A nivel mediático y de redes sociales se habla mucho del TDAH, pero no es común que se hable sobre sus causas a nivel fisiológico, o los diferentes tratamientos que existen para disminuir sus síntomas. En esta revisión de divulgación reunimos información basada en fuentes científicas, abordando de manera asequible las principales causas de este trastorno, así como sus principales tratamientos farmacológicos y no farmacológicos. Derivado de este análisis, hablamos también de uno de los enfoques más recientes para el abordaje del TDAH, tomando como base la diversidad que hay entre los pacientes con esta condición, y revisando algunos de los esfuerzos que se están realizando actualmente por grupos de investigación con el objetivo de personalizar el tratamiento de los pacientes, buscando que sea el más efectivo en cada caso
