Blackbody radiation in a brane world scenario
Abstract
In this work, we analize the problem of black body radiation in a effective action 4D that arises from the action 6D of a free gauge field in a non-factorizable geometry, where the two extra dimensions are compact, but with different topology. Our starting point is the Kaluza-Klein decomposition of the 6D Maxwell action into two sectors in 4D. The first sector contains a 4D massless Maxwell action, while the second yields an infinite set of a 4D massive gauge fields. The results obtained show that the standard Stefan-Boltzmann law is given by the zero mode plus corrective terms from the Kaluza-Klein tower.
