Simulation of rogowski coil with a pulsed source in ltspice

Abstract

This work focuses on the electronic simulation of the design of a high-precision current sensor based on the Rogowski coil, for the measurement of alternating current in energy conversion products. Unlike ferrite core transformer based current sensors, the Rogowski coil significantly reduces weight and dimensions without reducing current measurement capabilities, making it attractive for use in industries where such features are relevant. The simulation is carried out with the LTspice software, taking into account the simulation proposal of some components that are not found by default in the software, such as the Rogowski coil and the IGBT APT80GA60LD40; and a comparison with regular current transformers is made by selecting a proposal from three configurations of an integrator circuit to obtain an output signal proportional to the measured current.
