Abstract

In this essay a discussion about the relationship which the terms of value and value judgment have with the assessment seen from the field of learning and assessment research in education, for this reason, this implies to part from the historical review of the origins of assessment focusing interest in assessment models in which these terms began to be used and conceptualized. The assessment models which are analyzed are those proposed by Tyler, Cronbach, Suchman, Scriven, Stufflebeam, Eisner and Stake from the systematization that they make on authors such as Stufflebeam and Shinkfield (2005); Gonzalez (2011), Escudero (2003), House (2000) and Fonseca (2007). As part of this review we reach a number of conclusions about the different ways in which value can be understood; the purpose of value judgments and the relationship and validity of these terms when talking about learning assessment or assessment research.
