Differences between the perception of the children and their mothers about parenting styles employed by them
Abstract
Parenting Styles are present throughout the life cycle of the individual, also they favor their integration in the social environment. This written describes the investigation was realized in a simple N= 67 students of fifth and sixth grade of a private elementary school in Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo, Mexico, and their mother; with an age M= 10.16 years old and M= 37.8 years old, respectively. The aim was to identify the differences between the perception of the children and their mothers about parenting styles employed by them, for which, Flores and Gongora’s Children Rearing Practices Perception Scale, was applied, and for mothers was used García-Méndez, Rivera-Aragón and Reyes-Lagunes’s Parenting Styles Scale. The results showed discrepancies between the perception of the children and their mothers about parenting styles employed by them.
