Burnout syndrome in nursing students
Abstract
Introduction: Higher education institutions are usually highly stressful places, in these institutions students face a series of demands on a daily basis that under their own assessment constitute stress-generating situations, these situations when they are prolonged and frequent can lead to Burnout Syndrome. Objective: Determine the presence of Burnout Syndrome in students of the Bachelor of Nursing. Material and Method: A non-experimental, cross-sectional, observational study was carried out, a non-probabilistic sampling was considered, the partition of the 5th semester students enrolled in the nursing career of the health sciences institute (ICSa) of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH). Results: Of the 100% of the participants, 12% are in the severe level of Burnout, 70% are in the moderate level of Burnout and 18% do not present the Burnout Syndrome. Furthermore, we observed that the most altered dimensions were "Emotional exhaustion" and "Depersonalization. Conclusion: Like formal workers, university students may find themselves in a position to suffer psychosocial risks and damages in the face of concurrent stressors and demands, excessive or inappropriate, chronically unresolved or inadequately, depending on the university organizational contexts of academic work of students, so it is important to continue exploring the issue and propose strategies to intervene in a timely manner in cases of academic burnout syndrome.
