Prevention program of risk food behavior associated with body image, self-steem and body mass index in a sample of children from a public elementary and private

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to establish a universal prevention program in schools and its impact on the variables: a) biological (sex, age, height, weight); b) psychological (body image and self-esteem); and, c) sociocultural (influence of the media). Is a quasi-experimental study with pre, post and follow-up evaluation after three months into 6 groups: four experimental and two on waiting list. Through a non-probability convenience sampling students from a public elementary and private school in Pachuca, Hidalgo were selecte from 10 to 12 years old. An intervention consisting of 8 sessions, where related to healthy eating behaviors, self-esteem and three main components (cognitive, affective and behavioral) content will be addressed, body image and influence of the models will be applied and how they are projected these on the age group in question. To evaluate eating behavior we use "EFRATA II", to Self-esteem we use "Self-Esteem Questionnaire", for Influence of the media and discomfort with the body we use "Part Marking Technique Picture", and for the influence of the media we use "Questionnaire of the influence of the media on the Aesthetic Body Model".
