Dialysis
Abstract
Dialysis is discussed as a colloid purification method, having a special application in the treatment of patients with kidney failure. Some antecedents, geographical references in Mexico, and the process to carry out this surface technique are presented, a sample of the purification equipment constituted as well as the necessary care of patient. The objective is to spread the basic knowledge of this technique in real medical applications. Important issues such as unscheduled dialysis initiation, types of dialysis as treatment in renal dysfunction and the importance of informing and educating the patient before their inclusion in the different modalities of their renal replacement therapy have been addressed.
