pH as a parameter in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite and chloroapatite from the microwave-assisted hydrothermal method
Abstract
In the present work the synthesis of apatites is carried out, through the hydrothermal method assisted by microwaves, varying the pH in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The physicochemical and structural characterization was performed by the following techniques: MEB-EDS, DRX and FTIR, determining a crystal size of 8 to 10 nm depending on the pH; the formation of length agglomerates was observed, consisting of fibers between 43.4 to 108.5 nm in diameter and 412.4 to 1603.8 nm in length, likewise the presence of crystallographic planes characteristic of HAp and ClAp is determined. In addition, the vibrational modes belonging to both structures and an elongation in the band of the OH-group are identified, attributed to the interaction between the OH- group of the HAp and the Cl- ions of the ClAp. The results obtained contribute to establish the effect of pH on the size of glass and particle for the synthesis of HAp and ClAp.
