Abstract

Drop out, student lag and low terminal efficiency rates are among the most complex problems frequently faced by Higher Education Institutions in the country. The graduation rate and well as the rate with which college students obtain their diploma significantly affect institutions; hence the importance of conducting studies on the school trajectory of undergraduate students.
This paper reports the results obtained in a study conducted at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, in the state of Hidalgo, more specifically in the Bachelor of Law and Jurisprudence. In relation to the factors which influence school trajectory, the application of questionnaires to a sample of 72 students revealed the following percentages: Perception 78%, Perceived knowledge and skills during the bachelor 78%, Perception of the BA syllabus 76%, Perceived academic difficulties due to external factors 48%, Perceived academic difficulties due to internal factors 45%, Student Expectations 79%, and Perceptions of mentoring 60%.
From the sample, we classified the following types of trajectories: Regular students with excellent track record, Regular path regular students, Students with an irregular trajectory who have failed one subject, Irregular Trajectory Students with two or more failed subjects, Graduates with a diploma and undergraduate who complete their studies but fail to obtain a diploma.
The obtained information is intended to assist managers in making decisions and in the implementation of preventive measures, as well as continuing development programs, conferences, workshops, reports and dissemination material considering the factors or variables that affect completion of the studies.
