Students’ and teachers perceptions about the promotion of learning autonomy

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to know, through the perceptions of students and teachers, if at the BA in Veterinary Medicine, learning autonomy is promoted, and if so, to what extent it is. To collect data of this qualitative study, semi structured interviews were conducted with teachers and students. The findings in this study show that autonomy is promoted to a certain extent mainly regarding the use of teaching materials and the implementation of some activities. Students seem to acknowledge the importance of becoming autonomous but just some of them do actions to develop it.
