Signs of success and failure of Pulpotomy in permanent teeth
Abstract
Pulpotomy is a conservative treatment that consists of the partial removal of the dental pulp, eliminating only the affected chamber portion and leaving healthy tissue in the canals in order to preserve the vitality of the root portion. This treatment preserves the immune defense mechanisms and the regenerative potential of the remaining healthy pulp tissue, in addition, it maintains the structural integrity of the tooth and reduces the complications associated with root canal treatment.
In recent years, pulpotomy has demonstrated success as a treatment plan in permanent teeth that present symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Currently there are filling materials that show long-term success.
