Parametric and non-parametric statistical tests: their classification, objectives and features
Abstract
In science, statistic is an important tool, because gives the opportunity of making decisions, to theorize and generate objective knowledge. Psychology and others scientific disciplines, aspire to go further of the descriptive analysis, therefore inferential statistical tests, both parametric and non-parametric, provides the chance not only describing data but also generalize the findings that were obtained from the population where the samples were extracted. However, each of the test has some specific features that makes harder their correct selection. Hence, the objective of this knowledge application diagram was to provide a visual source that shows the parametric and non-parametric statistical tests, as well as their classification and features. This schema, tries to make easier the correct selection of a statistic test for specific types of data, that is the reason to consider this diagram as an educational resource for college students
