Abstract

In Mexico in 2000, the reported prevalence of hypertension between 20 and 69 years was 30.05%, ie more than 15 million Mexicans in this age group. Unfortunately 61% of hypertensive detected in 2000 is national, disowned be carriers of evil, a situation that is extremely important because, in general, in Mexico the patient comes to the doctor when several years have passed since the beginning of his hypertension and probably already mostly some degree of damage to target organs. According to WHO globally, one in three adults has high blood pressure, this disorder causes about half of all deaths from stroke or heart disease. It is considered that this problem was the direct cause of 7.5 million deaths in 2004, which has 13% of global mortality. If left uncontrolled, hypertension can lead to myocardial infarction, an enlargement of the heart and eventually heart failure, which is why the importance of talking about this subject in this way to raise awareness.
