Public Tourism Policy in Mexico, the construction of our identity

Keywords: Public policy, social construction, tourism, identity

Abstract

This work by authors Mario Alberto Velázquez García and Helene Balslev Clausen analyses the social construction of tourism, whose central theme is the relationship that exists between tourism and the State, as well as the mechanisms that the latter have at their disposal to try to generate a particular vision of tourism reality on the part of governments, because it is complex due to individual, group, economic interests or economic, cultural, social and political dimensions, given that the vast majority of sociological, political, cultural and even economic analyses consider tourism as a marginal issue; Therefore, the authors analyse tourism from an interdisciplinary perspective from the perspective of public policy and the construction of identity in Latin American countries and in particular in Mexico.
